Columbia Law School Graduate Housing

Hi, mi husband has been admitted to Columbia Law School’s 2012-13 Graduate Legal Studies Program, so we were wondering if someone could help us with the housing (we are foreing students, so we don't know much about the neighborhood).
We are a three member family, so we need a one or two bedroom unit. That been told, our options are 420 West 116th St., Lenfest Hall and Lionsgate.
Can you tell us where to apply? We want a safe place and hopefully with a near supermarket. Have anyone lived in one of those buildings so he/she could tell us his/her experience?

Thanks a lot!

I have never lived in one of these buildings, but I did attend Barnard (across the street from Columbia) and lived in this area for a couple years. All of these buildings are relatively close to each other, and I’d rate them all about the same safety-wise. Lionsgate is probably closest to the most amenities, including a great 24 hour supermarket and lots of restaurants. 420 West 116th is closest to campus, and near to a smaller supermarket. Lenfest is the furthest from the train and good supermarkets, but the area is quite nice.

All in all, you don’t really need to worry about safety or amenities with any of these buildings–Morningside Heights is a great area. You’d probably do best to research what the buildings have to offer as far as space and whatnot.
