Did the people who received likely letters apply to Fu or Columbia College?

Both issue likelies.

Can you guys post your stats?

So if you don’t get a likely letter, does that mean you will not be admitted?

From what I understood talking to Columbia admissions couple of years ago is that they admit about 8-10% of the admittees early in RD. Many of them are named scholars of some kind.

So there are more than 90% still left to be admitted after the likelies.

Hello texaspg - How do you know that Columbia will send likely letters until 2nd week of March? Did you ask any admissions officer?

@newsonline: Per Ivy agreement, the schools are ALLOWED to send Likely Letters between Oct 1 and March 15. Whether they choose to do so or not is completely up to them, year to year, dependent on the circumstances. For all we know, they’re completely done.

Thanks T26E4

Are these the only letters that will be sent out? Will there be another wave usually for Ivy League Schools?

bob: there’s no set protocol. Like I said in my post above, for all we know, they’re completely done. Or they have another hundred ready to go. However, you should resist any temptation to be sitting around, longing for one. They are VERY pointed marketing instruments. No rational person should expect one.

some kids got likely letters today

My son just received an academic likely email from Columbia. He is especially strong in the humanities. Does anyone know if there are named scholars in the humanities, or only for STEM?

Got likely letter!

Hey everyone! Any internationals with likely letters here?

I think at least a couple of types of scholars are given to humanities students. I remember a potential English major being named a scholar couple of years ago.

Is the March 6th/7th batch of letters likely to be the last or does Columbia send them at the last moment as well?

Got a likely with the 6th/7th batch, high stats (best GPA possible at my school and 2390) with a heavy STEM focus (though not an INTEL winner or anything, just a few semi-impressive internships). My school has a core similar to columbia’s, and my why columbia was the most compelling of all the apps. Also got a likely to UChicago a few weeks back. Still in shock by both of them!

@confusedhexagon yep I’m foreign!

How many people get Likely letters in total from Columbia? 100?

@waddupwaddup: it’s not a published number. Nor do I think Columbia has a quota. They’ll send the number they see fit, year to year.

Thus, whatever the number is, makes no difference. Like I’ve said before, no rational person should sit around hoping for one.

@confusedhexagon: Mar 15 is the last date to issue. Please take my advice in my 2nd paragraph. Don’t pine away for one. It goes beyond all logic.
