holy holy holy holy!!! omg omg omg omg obog365......

This post is on behalf of my best friend. I just felt that it would be helpful to those students who are applying for RD and for the future years.

go canadians?

indeed. Go fellow canucks!

lol vancouver too? which school? (pm me if you like)

I used to live in Burnaby! I sent you a pm before but you never replied :(

omg.. I'm soo sorry.. checks inbox blushes

obog...good lord those are good statistics. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but don't feel uninspired. Honestly it seems like you were an unfortunate misjudgment by the Columbia admissions board.
Apply to many many more schools (I guarantee you will have a high success rate) and keep your head up high...

Too all of the EDers who got accepted: Congratulations (and in case I don't get in RD, you can all go to...well nevermind :)
Deferred: Don't give up; "Hard work is often a disguise for an opportunity"...put in the effort and you could make it.
Rejected: There are many other schools....all things happen for a reason. Remember these quotes:
"You cannot change your fate, it is your fate to change"...once again, things happen for a reason.
"What is defeat? Nothing but education; nothing but the first step to something better."
Wendell Phillips

Anyway, best of luck to you all (and wish me luck for RD :)

good luck rman.. and thanks :)

wow.

somethings up about your app.

Congrats to all who were accepted, and to those who weren't, take a step back and remember, you're AMAZING people, and like a previous poster said, you'll definitely end up at a top university, whether it's columbia or not. Best of luck for everyone, I'm rooting for you :)

Congrats from the Penn board!

Reading this message board makes me want to crawl into a corner of my room in the fetal position. Gwa! I wish my ED school was as snappy as Columbia w/ the decisions!

It seems there are only Asians who are accepted!!

congratulations all, good work --- all those long nights doing hw paid off!

cornell... still waiting :-)

Beautifully written post, Phew. You nailed it. That is NOT to make any of the deferees or "rejecteds" feel bad, not at all. In fact, some of you had high GPA's, as I think. It's just to shed light on the general argument that goes around on all the CC forums, regarding supposed admissions predictability & supposed value of SAT I's.

Huge consolations to all those with less than happy results today. Please hang in there & stay positive. Your particular student profile didn't happen to be accepted (yet) by this particular place; that's all. You as a person were not rejected, & you're in no way a Reject. (And oh, P.S., I guess you also know you can transfer into Columbia, later.)

Thanks Rman3008
you made me feel better

Heyy so I am a new member but I've been basically stalking this site for like 3 months haha! I was too scared to join before because I thought I'd get rejected

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 2340 (800CR/740M/800W)
[] SAT IIs: 800 (iic) 770 (Lit)
[] GPA: 4.86 (out of 5)
[] Rank: 6/350(ish I'm not sure how many kids there are)
[] Other stats:
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: I wrote mine on gravity and how it parallels human relationships. It was actually just an essay for my English class but my teacher liked it and suggested I use it as my college essay.
[] Teacher Recs: Pretty good (1 math/computer science, 1 English)
[] Counselor Rec: Basically the sweetest thing I've ever read. He talked about how I'm independent, so I think that helped.
[] Hook (if any): I started a judicial branch in my school's student government, and I've done a lot of anti-discrimination work
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Massachusetts
[] School Type: Medium-sized public
[] Ethnicity: white
[li] Gender: Female[/li][/ul]Other Factors: I went to the summer program (Leadership in Law), and I'm a girl who's potentially going for a math major... I'm not really sure, just throwing these things out there.
General Comments: Anyone else from MA? I know people were wondering about sending a picture, and I did... Maybe that helped haha
