oo another pton person in columbia board! i hope they'd hurry up with the decisions so we ptonians dont have to lurk around in columbia and dartmouth boards drooling at 'ACCEPTED!'....

sat ii 800 math iic,chem 800,bio770
good essay,good recs,gpa 93,good ecs.

holy crap those are high stats

wow thats scary to see rossi......he will get into a good school where he will be happy with those stats!

did acceptees get interviews? should i get one if i got deferred?

My daughter was accepted ED to the class of 2007. During her admissions process our family knew of three other Columbia applicants from the area - all had great transcripts and were interesting people. The other ED applicant was rejected as were the two RD applicants. Why am I telling you this? Because two of these kids ended up at Harvard and one at Johns Hopkins....not exactly chopped liver. More importantly, they are happy members of their respective communities and do not give Columbia a thought.

What goes on in the admissions committee conference room at a given moment is impossible to analyze. Even if you send in an application with top-drawer credentials to an elite school all bets are off as to who they will actually take from the many applications that they get. I don't know every detail of their lives but I suspect that the rejected students that our family knew were my daughter's academic equals in every way.

I hate that some of you have been disappointed. I hate how the system creates so much stress - BUT having observed this process through a couple of cycles, I would say it does all work out. You will end up at great schools that challenge you and have friendships that will teach you as much as the classes will.

Congrats to those accepted. Columbia is a wonderful school. Best wishes to those who are still going through the application process.

holy crappers, congratulations lynda

It seems like applicants that SEAS applicants are doing well this year (w00t :))

did all the accepted people get interviews?

I did.. and it went great.. my interviewer was very impressed with how much I knew about columbia (she kept thinking that I either had a family member that attended or I visited more than once..) I stumbled a few times during the interview.. but overall it was a great one (at least for me) it lasted 1.5 hrs

so...that's a yes?
