Columbia or NYU

GPA: 95 weighted (top 30%). I moved from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire sophomore year, which was a disruption.
Lots of AP's and Honors Courses. (AP English, AP Calc, AP Bio, AP European History this year)
2180 SAT (790 Writing, 750 Reading, 640 Math)
AP Language & Comp: 5
AP US History: 5
SAT US History: 790
SAT Math I: 660
Very strong recs., including from a Columbia instructor who taught me.
Very strong extracurriculars (Internships where I was the only high school student, everyone else was a junior/senior in college; club leadership positions, student senate, NHS, etc.).

If my only choice was to apply Early Decision to NYU or Columbia, which should I do? How would I fit in at both schools?

Which school are you sold on?

I would prefer Columbia, but I think I would probably like NYU.

try for Columbia.

Unless you have a mega hook, top 30% is not gonna cut it for columbia

^Agreed. Your chances at NYU are significantly better than your chances at Columbia.

What’s my percent chance for getting accepted Early Decision at each?

Thanks.

Bump. Percent chance at each would be much appreciated.

try early at columbia, cuz your chance at NYU regular decision is almost 100%.

Ok. What are my chances at Columbia? Thanks CCers, I’ll chance you back!

thanks :)

if you improve your math 2 score
you should have a good shot at nyu for sure
columbia is a reach at this point though
top 30% might be tough
although your recs might help you out

chance back!

Columbia will defer you (best case scenario) or reject you ED. Rank is very important to them. “97% of admitted students were in the top 10% of their classes.”
[Admission Statistics | Columbia University Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/applications/stats.php)

Also , your SAT is low for Columbia.

Try NYU ED.

I agree. Go for NYU ED.
