hi!
I’m a senior Psychology student and applied to Columbia Uni Teacher’s College for a Masters in Clinical psychology.
I have a 3.7 overall GPA and a 4.0 major GPA (Psychology courses).
- 10 months of research with a psychiatrist
- 1 year and a half volunteer in a children cancer center
- 1 year and a half red cross active member
- 1 month of research with a doctor in Psychology at my university
- Participated in 2 data collections projects ( i've been told this is considered as research experience)
- Great letter of recommendations
This is my application in general… Do you think i can get in??? Please help…
Its a bit on the low side. These are all typical stuff (no offense) and columbia is, well, columbia. Low acceptance goes with the name and you might want at least 1 big thing that really stands out. Or other things that show your well-rounded and not just doing ecs for colleges
What can i do to strengthen my application if i were to apply again? What do recommend for someone in my case?
And i was also wondering if a 3.7 overall GPA and 4.0 major GPA is good
Wouldn’t your GPA’s strength depend on your university too? If you belong to a competitive school, that GPA is just fine! Howver, it may not look great for Columbia if you do not belong to a great school. 4.0 major GPA is perfect. Overall not so much but I guess they would focus more on your majors.
