I am currently a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University. I am in the honors college, I have a 3.95 overall GPA and a 4.0 GPA in my major (psychology). I have been involved in numerous research projects, am an intern at a mental health clinic, have volunteered at hospitals, and am currently volunteering as a youth mentor.

I am interested in applying to some of the top MSW programs, with Columbia being my first choice.

Do I need more experience in the field of social work in order to be accepted? Should I take a year or two after I graduate to boost my credentials? Most of my research/internship experience has been in psychology, but I intend to become a LCSW and practice therapy, so I think my background in psychology is conducive to that goal.

Any input would be much appreciated! :)
