Yesterday, I had Columbia on my Common App list but decided not to send it because I didn't have time to complete the supplement.

Then, today Columbia sends me the following email:

"Dear _____,

We see that you added Columbia University to your "My Colleges" list on the Common Application Online, but we have yet to receive your application.

We have received, however, many questions regarding our January 1st Regular Decision deadline given the weekend and the January 2nd national holiday and wanted to make you aware, given that, that you can still apply to Columbia should you wish. As paper applications cannot be postmarked until Tuesday, January 3rd, we will still be accepting applications, regardless of submission method, through that date. If you are applying online you can still submit your application via the Common Application online system at www.commonapp.org by 11:59pm (EST) on January 3rd or via mail with a postmark no later than January 3rd.

In addition, if you need to request an application fee waiver you may do so online via the Common Application system or with your paper application.

Should you have remaining questions about admission to Columbia, need assistance or wish to request an application deadline extension due to extenuating circumstances, please e-mail ugrad-ask@columbia.edu .

Thank you for your interest in Columbia University.

Sincerely,

Jessica Marinaccio
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions "

Interesting... I didn't think such amazing colleges gave deadline extensions! Is this because of my SAT scores?
