What’s the best way to prepare for the Columbia SHP entrance exam? Would watching crash course videos on relevant science fields that I haven’t learned yet (e.g. chem/earth science) be sufficient for the science portion of the test?
Quite honestly, yes. They are lenient on freshmen and you only need to be proficient in one subject. They measure potential- can you use reason to guess the other answers? Dont worry if you find ypurself confused for most of the test
@sighcollege I’m a sophomore who’s only taken bio and physics so far - is that still ok?
@eskeetit123 yeh, definitely- aalmost everyone has only taken two sciences by their sophomor year- again, they take grade into consideration, so dw you should be good
Anyone taking this courrenly can tell me how is the course load? How much hw and what are the expectations?
@sighcollege Which classes did you take, and do you know which classes are generally better?
Really sorry guys! Just saw this all. It’s probably too late for y’all but for anyone else reading this:
@Thinkbigger absolutely zero homework no matter what course, expectations are just that you try to pay attention and stay engaged, no form of grading or anything like that
Most of the time the person teaching the course is the same each time, but I’m taking a course rn that has different people each time
You’re not expected to understand everything or even the majority, it’s just a cool informal environment where you get to learn more about what different topics are about, often things you’ve never even heard of
Keep in mind there are 9-12 graders in each class, so understanding varies a lot depending on what classes you’ve taken in school!
@eskeetit123 virology, neuroscience, intro to java, quantum mechanics and relativity, stem cell biology, currently taking nanoscience
