@2018scholar Wondered if the Sci Po interviewer would be the same person. Wish they would just carry it over in those cases! Where did you interview?
How was it? What questions did they focus on? @2018scholar
@jeffnom FYI
I did a virtual interview and applied to the reims campus (for the Africa program) The interviewer did not mention that we had already spoken, but I do think he recognized me. Other than that it went well, they mostly asked questions about what this program would bring to me and what I was interested in. They also asked questions about development in Africa and my take on it
@2018scholar I’m so happy it went well for you! Did they ask any questions about specific regions in Africa or just broad questions? Also did you have to speak in english and in french?

@2018scholar wjen you said you talked about you were interested in, do you mean in the program or in life in general?

It was mostly broad. They don’t expect you to know every single thing happening in each country, but when they asked me questions on development I tried intergrating current events and facts into my answers. The interview was in english and for about a minute the sciences po rep spoke to me in French. As for what I was interested in, they asked about in the program first (I recommend having specific and concrete examples like class names) and then my interests in school and in life.
@2018scholar thanks for the info!
Does anyone know what specific questions they ask at interview (or redirect me to a thread where this has already been posted)
@morusa Not the specifics but mainly brush up on current news events concerning you region of choice at sciences po and know exactly what you want to do while you’re in the program
I’m having my interview in less than 12 hrs.
@RyanHWayne How was your interview? Did you get to talk about a current event you are really interested in?
Hey all, recently found this thread, just gonna put down some questions they asked (not a lot, like 4, given the fact that they had only 30 minutes interview - and I finished early!).
(In here I make the questions intentionally obscured but if they are still not allowed, can the mods delete it plox thanks!)
So to start things off:
“Can you tell us a bit about yourself and why are you interested in the Dual BA Program?” (both at same time, might differ for others)
Then: “What current events are you following right now (that’s related to my region of interest, which is Asia)”
They will then ask about the things related to your answer (for me, China!).
They also gave me a piece of news (said that it’s okay if I don’t know, seems like you can skip without any penalty) and asked me what I thought about that. It’s related to my previous answer. Thankfully, I know a bit about the parties involved, so I answered with my speculation on why the event occurred.
Then they dove more into my answer and asked me to elaborate on things I mentioned (OBOR, “regional hegemony”, etc.)
Lastly, they ended with a question on civic engagement. It was something I’m interested so I think I rambled on a bit…
That’s… it. Overallm the interview was very knowledge-based, I think it’s for them to gauge your knowledge on sociopolitical issues, critical thinking, and interests related to the Program. They weren’t deeply personal - at least that’s how I feel about it - compared to the US interviews where emphasis is on personality and character traits. The Program already allowed for super long essays anyway.
Hey guys, I just had my interview 20 minutes ago and I thought I’d offer some insight into my interview (btw the website malfunctioned for me so I ended up having a phone interview)
They started off by asking me to tell them a little about myself and my interest in the Dual BA program. They didn’t ask anything about current events (didn’t bring up any and didn’t ask me to talk about any). The reps just asked me questions based on my answers to their previous questions. For example, we talked a lot about my international experience since I was born and my interest in fashion (as I am a model) and how that intersects with the realm of Social Sciences. Then the Sciences Po rep asked me about something that I don’t think I answered correctly since I couldn’t really understand him as it was over the phone and he had a prominent French accent. The questions were all very standard but I was definitely surprised that I didn’t get any current event questions.
I don’t think it was grueling; both reps were very nice. But I don’t think I did that well since I stuttered a lot and rambled on. I was so nervous. Good luck everyone!
@girpackey oof… that somewhat worries me. Maybe because I might have blundered the first question about my interests in the Dual BA so they veered into knowledge-based questions?.. This might be over-rationalizing but damn, it’s a bit worrying…
@monsthion Don’t worry too much. I wouldn’t read too much into it, but then again, I’m not an admissions officer. I just think it varies from interviewer to interviewer. Plus the interview’s over and you can’t really do anything about it now so just relax and enjoy the last few months of your senior year! I’m sure you did just fine. I definitely messed up one question haha
I felt like my interview’s so different…
I think my interview is incredibly similar to yours…
