They also asked me about self-introduction and my reason of applying to the Dual BA program. (I think I also skipped the second question since I paused a little after my self-introduction and the SciPo rep interrupted me)
Then the interview steered to knowledge-based questions, things about my region of focus (China, Mr. Xi in particular). He also asked me a question about Chinese education (quite surprising)
Last part was my prospective life at the program. I felt lucky that I steered the content back on track and turned back to answer the reason why apply( together with my planned college life)
Overall the interview went on quite well(43 minutes sharp), but I also fumbled a bit on words and was little repetitive. Could’ve done better! Anyway, good luck to everyone!
looked into it:
Last year, decisions were out on 30th, March. (Coincidence or not, it was the ivy day)
(This year’s ivy day (probably) is 28th, March btw.)
Hey, I was just wondering, what are the majors most commonly chosen by the students in the program and which ones are in reach (as I understand some are in reach but are unusual)? There are the ones on the dual BA website, but is it fully representative?
@mateorenzi I was told by a student currently in Columbia that students often choose as majors economics and political science (joined majors).
And according to the calendar on the Dual degree site, the final desicion comes out the 1st of April
Context: I’m American and I applied directly through the international procedure to the Reims Campus (Euro-American program). Since there wasn’t another thread I decide to write here.
My application was deemed admissible and now I am waiting for my interview. Did anyone else on the forum apply directly like I did? How was your interview? Is it different from the Dual BA’s interview? Thank you in advance for any replies and advice.
I believe the “direct” international admission to SciencesPo has a much high acceptance rate. I’m not sure if everyone gets interviews, but about 1/4 of students who apply get accepted.
@EsperantoLover I only applied to the dual BA but the direct application to sciences po interview is much more intense than the dual BA one. The dual BA one still has an american aspect as they ask about you and your endeavors. For sciences po, you are given a text and have (i’m not sure how much time exactly) a specific amount of time to prepare it, analyze it, and then present it to the people judging you, then you have a discussion about other current events I believe. While this is very different from Columbia and Berkeley, you might want to look for a UBC/Sciences Po thread because the UBC interview is much more similar
@EsperantoLover I applied to sciences Po only I do no have yet my answer however I had an interview for the dual BA between UBC and sciences Po and the interview works the same way Sciences Po’s do. You have 30 min to analyze an extract from a newspaper, say what the main ideas are and tell what the message of the author is and how he presents his idea. You also have to use your own knowledge in order to give more presicion to the text. You to do your presentation with a short introduction, 2 or 3 three parts and a conclusion. You have 10 min to present it to the “jury”. They will then ask some questions on the topic and topics related to the one of the text for 10 minutes. Finally they will ask you questions your motivation such as why do you want to join Sciences Po and what courses interest you. You may also be asked to answer some questions about yourself (extracurricular activities, projects for the future…etc).
I hope this helped you do not hesitate to ask other questions I will do my best to answer them (my sister is currently in Sciences Po so I know how the interview works and I am prepared for it in my school).
@2018scholar@Srudents2017 Thank you for your replies. Will the article be about the region I chose to specialise in? For example, I applied to the Euro-American program so they wouldn’t give me an article about Asia/Africa? Thanks.
