Columbia Theatre Program

How does Columbia's acting program compare to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts BFA program? And if I wanted to study acting which school would be better attend?

i’d like to know this too

Tisch is one of the best conservatories in the country specifically for theatre…

There’s a discussion about the theatre department on the Columbia University Class of 2014 group on Facebook. It is very helpful

Hey, guys! I’m actually a current Drama and Theatre Arts major at Columbia, so naturally I have a lot to say about the subject. I’ve said a lot of it already on a thread called Columbia vs. Brown in Columbia’s general discussion section, so feel free to check some of that stuff out.

Basically, I think Columbia affords an actor a lot of different opportunities that maybe a more intensive program doesn’t. For instance, not all of your theatre classes will be exclusively theatre majors, but they will be filled with people genuinely interested in and passionate about the art. The department here is also small, and the faculty is completely boss, so you get to know the faculty, as well as your peers, really well, and it’s less of a competitive atmosphere and more of a collaborative atmosphere.

If this is a question you’re interested in, definitely check out the thread I mentioned above, and if you have questions, feel free to send me a message!
