Here is the problem.
SAT
Reading: 650
Writing: 630
Math:590

ACT+Writing Composite: 29

I am taking the SAT again and am shooting for a 700, 700, 630. What do you think my chances are guys?

I plan on applying Early Decision to Columbia with hopes to be a Biochemsitry major

Also would it be useful if I got my high school's admissions counselor who I have worked with extensively to write a supplemental recommendation?

Don’t get me wrong when I say this because you definitely have worked very hard, but I highly doubt your scores are good enough.

Even if you were able to bring your scores up to 700, 700, and 630, that’s still at the bottom of/below Columbia’s standards, and raising your scores on the SAT is HARD. Your ACT is also way below.

The above link is a graph of the accepted and denied students. 7% of students are admitted.

HOWEVER. If you were somehow able to miraculously raise your SAT scores to a little bit higher than what you’re shooting for, I think you might have a chance of getting in. It’s definitely not impossible, and otherwise, your stats are pretty impressive.

A recommendation might help. Columbia is very iffy because even for extraordinary students, it’s extremely difficult. Your chances are very low, but maybe if you do something about the SAT scores, your chances will rise a little. I think it would be admirable to admissions if they saw a huge leap in your scores. It shows how hard you worked.

I wish you the best of luck! It is not impossible. :)
