**~Columbia University Fall 2017 Transfer Thread~**

@tnufas

Hmm, I’ve never heard of applicants being able to add to their application, but it probably couldn’t hurt to send an email to the admissions office letting them know to put a note in.

I’ve always found admissions officers to be surprisingly accommodating–definitely can’t hurt send an update

Veterans have already been notified about their decisions.

@lexluther96 Cool, are you a veteran? Was it good news?

@fcgeek27 Oh no! Someone from the Stanford thread mentioned he’d gotten in and that vets were notified first. Good for him! I thought I’d let you guys know.

My mid-year grade reports were somehow lost in the mail, and they got returned to my house this morning. What do I do? Does anyone have any advice? If I sent them back, they would be WAY late, and I don’t know that they haven’t already thrown out my “incomplete” application

@oncoviro17
If I were you, I would probably just email them explaining your situation and try to fax your mid-year report to Columbia. Admissions offices tend to be very understanding of situations like this.

@oncoviro17 I emailed Columbia admissions and they stated that I could email my midterm report to them because I explained to them that my mail could get to them extremely late. I emailed them later, asking if they received it and they said that they did.

@collegebusiness yay!

@collegebusiness Did they mention to which email address should you email ?

@luckybaby I emailed my midterm grades to ugrad-confirm@columbia.edu.

I also emailed them my midterm report last week to this email address. But no one replied me till now. @Iapplyanywhere

If anyone could chance me that would be great! :slight_smile:

Major (1st/2nd/3rd choice): Art History & Art, Art History, Chemistry

Currently Attending: UCLA (freshman)
College GPA: 3.448 (got a C in chem) but I was applying during before my second quarter grades came out–so on my transcript I sent to them I have a 3.785. I also got two A+s but I’m not sure if they’ll take that into account. On the college report my professors had to estimate grades and put A+, B/B+ and B-
HS GPA: 3.9 UW, 4.7 W
ACT: 32
APs: 5s on US history, Calc BC, Macroeconomics, and Gov. 4s on Lang, French, and chem

EC: Art (Illinois High School Arts Exhibit Visionary Award, local community college art show), Daily Bruin (newspaper) photographer, Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House tour guide (in HS mostly, but I still give tours when I’m home), Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago volunteer (HS, family day volunteering with kids/artists, etc), taught art lessons to kids (in HS), Yoga for Flexible Futures (teaches yoga/wellness lessons to kids in LA area), lead news editor and photographer for high school, ukulele

LORs: I’d say very solid. I got A+s in both classes, but they’re from TAs
Why Transfer: I think pretty good, maybe 8.5-9 out of 10. I talked about wanting to become an art restorer (hence art history and chem)
Supplemental Essays: Better than my transfer essay I’d say, pretty creative and columbia-centered

@beemo you seem like a really strong applicant, good luck! :slight_smile:

Please chance me! (Sending this again since I got ignored last time lol)

Current international Freshman, applying for East Asian Studies program @ Columbia College
No financial aid needed
Current University: Grinnell College
Current GPA: 3.9 (Straight A mid-term report)
ACT: 32
High school GPA: 3.9 Unweighted

College EC’s:

  • Started an East Asian Studies club at a school without EAS major
  • Student government member
  • Founder of a subtitle group with 300k followers on Chinese websites
  • Writing for an organization that promotes liberal arts education in China
  • Currently doing a Vlog series promoting Asian culture

Other:

  • Transfer excuse is legit; Grinnell does not have EAS major
  • Taking as many Asia-related courses as I can
  • Recs and essays should also be good; 2 recs written by Asia-related courses’ professors

Is anyone else freaking out and can’t wait for the decisions to be released?

@trmx97 very much so

HELP! So I know for a fact that I sent in my midterm report. But On my checklist there isn’t even a “Midterm” title there. Everything else is shown and checked off…do you guys see “Midterm report” as something there and checked??

@terr24lr they don’t track the midterm report. You can call if you want to confirm they got it, but if you sent it, it’s a good bet they’ve got it.

@mjr2013 thanks for the quick response my dude!
