What does “course number mean”? For example I am taking Math 147 (a statistics class) which has a Course Registration number of (let’s say) 9899012. Is the “course number” I write on the midterm report 147 or 9899012?
Keep in mind my school does not have mid term grades so I will personally be going to my professors and have them estimate my current grades (which I guess is what I am supposed to do right?) Thanks!
@terr24lr The registration number is your schools way of identiflying that class. The course number “147” generally refers to the level of the course. 100 level is freshman, 200 is sophomore, etc. 500 and above is usually reserved for grad classes.
Hey everyone! I have a rather odd feeling about transferring and I would like to share it and see if anyone else feel the same. I feel that I am equally happy with my current school, Columbia and the other school I apply to. I see value in all three of them. So no matter how I choose (or what my options will be once the results come out) I think I am perfectly happy already before I know the result. I even hope that I can stay in this current stage.
I applied to Columbia as a transfer student last year too and got waitlisted. I was already pretty happy about that. So we will see what happens. Good luck!
I’m transferring from a community college in american Samoa. I got my AS in Health science, and I plan to pursure Biochemistry. My GPA was 3.85 and my high school GPA was 3.98 (both unweighted). My sat scores aren’t that great tbh, I got a 1730. But I’m hoping my GPA, essays, and ECs pull it up. My ECs mostly include volunteer work at the surgical clinic, Alliance against domestic violence, camp courageous, sponsoring a child from house of refuge…also part of various clubs such as journalism, psychology, students against destructive decisions, president of future business leaders of america…
Hi all!
If I could get anyone to chance me, that would be awesome!

Please have your school submit the Mid-Year Report as soon as first quarter or first trimester grades are available if you are an Early Decision candidate; for Regular Decision candidates, as soon as first semester or second trimester grades are available. We will accept the documents either electronically or in paper form via postal mail or fax.
We request that Mid-Year Report/senior grades are submitted by February 1, or as soon as they are available. If you have completed high/secondary school at the time of application, it is not necessary to send in new documents.
We do not track Mid-Year Reports/senior grades through the online tracking system."
While most of this obviously applies to freshmen only, I would bet that bottom line is the same for transfers.
I recently was accepted to two pretty prestigious internships. The first is with a large, national bank (think Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, etc), and the second is with a technology venture capital firm. Should I email Columbia, updating them on my summer plans? Will it help my application or will it just be unnecessary?
