Columbia University RD Class of 2023

Hey guys! I made this tread so that we could start meeting each other, and seeing how we are all preparing for applying in the fall. Fingers crossed for good news next year.

Honestly I have no qualifications for this school. One can dream.

I really wanna apply ED but I don’t have the means to tour in New York!

@vegetarianstress
I was accepted ED and chose to attend Columbia. The first time I stepped foot on campus was orientation my freshman year and I can say that even though the last 3.5 years haven’t been lollipops and rainbows, I can’t see myself anywhere else. If you want to apply ED, I think you should go for it.

@vegetarianstress I toured last winter, but I also found YouTube videos uploaded by Ken Westrick helpful.

This videos is also really good:

I really would like to apply (I love it so much) but I’m not sure if I have the confidence to do ED :confused:

@thatmartha

Thanks for the video link. It will help my son (also a filmmaker) who’s never visited NYC. He’s applying to Columbia (QB finalist), but still a far reach.

Good luck everyone!

Applying RD. was deferred from UPenn but I’m a legacy at Columbia so I don’t know haha

@hopestobe I ed columbia and got deferred… I have legacy and a professor at the med school and good stats. sadly for us columbia doesnt care much about legacy (they accept about 5% a year)

Applying RD. Was also deferred from UPenn. Feeling super discouraged today, but hoping that I start to feel more confident in the next few weeks. I guess what I’m dreading most is just waiting for 4 months…

Applying RD. any idea how Columbia feels about international students?

Question, for the “Writing Question” where is list you favorites book or activities, did you guys just bullet point, or used commas or a well written paragraph?

It said list, so I just used bullet points. @NJMAN2500

I used commas

So there’s no checklist for me on the applicant portal. In their email, they said that we’d be able to track our status come January 31. Doesn’t it seem a little strange that we cannot make sure everything is complete until a month after we submit our applications?

@britdarrow Yes, it does. Same here for my DS. Nothing on portal. Just name and address.

Did anyone who applied yesterday, January 1 get their portal yet? Or an email that says their application was recieved? I haven’t gotten any confirmation from Columbia University so I’m a bit worried.

@asingh19 I submitted 12:50ish am on Jan. 1st and got my confirmation on Jan. 2

Hi everyone, I am excited to get to know everyone over the months of waiting. I was debating for a while whether to apply ED since I did their engineering fly-in (CE2) and liked what I saw but ended up switching to RD for financial reasons.
