Hey. I'm a sophomore and I had some questions on those who took the exam for the shp at columbia or are currently enrolled in the program. Can anyone give me tips on what to study? And how to study? I'm currently taking trigonometry and chemistry and have done algebra, geometry, earth science and living environment. I know there are physics questions but are they basic physics? What are the chances of being accepted? Also, is the second math part similar to the AMC? PLEASE HELP! I have atleast two months to study as the exam is in April. Is it really unlikely for a sophomore to make it?
Thanks

Btw approximately how much studying will I have to do?

The first two sections are really easy, no worries. No surprises - really basic math (nothing past Algebra II at worst). The science section I took as a freshman after only taking bio, and it was fine, I got in. They basically just want to see if you have at least a basic knowledge of math and science
The last section is pretty hard - AMC level math definitely. Study a bit of physics if you want, but don’t bother studying for challenge math. I’d say that if you have a wide background in science and some good problem solving skills (and a good nights sleep/ coffee the day of), you’ll get in no problem. :)
