Columbia University

hey katie,

Although I'm not interested in film myself, I know two people who are in the FSU film program. One girl went to a film camp over the summer, directed a short film, and then did the senior video for the class. She is very talented, but it was the product of a lot of hard work. (btw, we don't have a film program at our school either). I suggest you try to do something like a film camp this summer, or at least try film out in some way before you apply to these programs. They like to see that you've pursued your interest and developed it. hope this helps :)

Can anyone give me info. about Barnard? How close is the affiliation between it and Columbia? Are the film programs the same? How do the campuses differ?

Take a look at Carolyn's personal website, which provides great tips on how to get inside info on colleges: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=63899

Also take a close look at Barnard's website, and then ask follow-up questions on CC, including on the Barnard and Columbia boards.
