Columbia vs. USC for MS Electrical Engineering

I've seen the rankings, but I'd like to know which masters program in electrical engineering is better from the students' perspective for Columbia vs. USC. I don't know anyone that went to those schools, so I'd really appreciate any insights!

For some examples of comparison, how do these program compare from the research perspective, quality of faculty, prestige, job opportunities, class sizes, lifestyle, etc. I am interested in research / PhD later maybe, but perhaps do the PhD somewhere else, hopefully Stanford or MIT. Which ever would be better to achieve that counts more. (I don't know which area to focus on yet though)

I am a career changer, coming with a BS and MS in civil engineering from Berkeley and Stanford and worked a few years.

Yeah, I remember that I saw your post on the grad cafe website. I was also admitted to both ms in ee programs at usc and columbia.

I am also kind of undecided as of which school to attend. Columbia has the Ivy tag, which is great, but sometimes I think that USC is a bit better in Electrical Eng.

Have u made a decision at this point? To which tracks were you accepted?

Actually, I am still waiting on USC. Rats. It is my top pick though. For USC I applied to the electric power track.

I have the same thought process as you. But if I get rejected from USC, well, I suppose it is an easier choice than I thought. Good luck to you.
