Columbia/Yale/Harvard/MIT Pro Con Chemistry

For a chemistry major, can anyone list pros and cons to these schools and their chemistry programs?

I want to major in chemistry but also complete the pre-med track. I would also like to perform research in biology (I need to take advanced biology classes as well).

Any appreciable academic differences between the chem programs will be dwarfed by the differences in environment, core curriculum or lack there of, and other factors. All of those schools are elite research universities with abundant opportunities for UG research, premed advising, and advanced chem/bio courses.

The real problem will almost certainly not be deciding among those fine schools; the real problem will be gettting in. Post back here if you’re in the position to make such a college decision.

I believe Columbia and Yale are ranked lower for science in general (Shanghai), but I could be wrong. Can’t go wrong with Harvard or MIT for a science subject though.

i would still like some pro cons though

There’s no point in debating pros and cons of four extremely selective schools when it’s highly unlikely you will get into all (or any) of them. Focus on building a list of solid match colleges instead.

And if you want to go to (expensive) medical school, or seek a career in (highly competitive) chemistry or biology, pay careful attention to keeping costs low and avoiding heavy debt.

can someone give a legitimate answer? I didnt ask for advice on getting on or thinking about this later.

Columbia runs all intro science classes very large. Its medical school is on a separate campus.
