actually..what kind of people that columbia is looking for? what kind of contributions that they expect from the students??what sorts of qualities are important for them??</p>

<p>But Columbia students are commonly academically motivated, engaged in the world around them, and have a wide range of academic interests.</p>

<p>Pretty much work hard play hard.</p>

<p>they want:
1) perfect attendance in school
2) you have to have sat at the front of your classes
3) you have to know all your classmates by name and date of birth especially if you go to a large public school
4) you have to have memorized the columbia fight song:</p>

<p>roar lion roar,
and wake the echoes of the hudson valley....</p>

<p>5) you need to be able to quote admissions statistics in your application average SAT score over the years etc.
6) you must show some physical prowess, climbing a mountain is a basic pre-requisite
7) if you haven't started up a book reading club don't even bother applying, honestly.</p>

<p>8) Also, if you haven't saved at least one whale from the scourge of the Japanese government, you can forget about hte rest of the Ivys</p>
