Combined Duke,GT,Harvard,Penn, Standford info session

Has anyone ever attended one of these combined regionally offered info sessions? Did you find it worthwhile?

Complete waste of time.

I went to a Harvard, Princeton, UVA info session. It was fairly entertaining (the UVA guy did a great job moderating), but most of the info is stuff you could probably find on the website. It was fascinating to see the types of questions people thought it was worthwhile to ask, though none were particularly illuminating.

“Can I go to Princeton if I want to become a pilot?”

Harvard, Princeton, and UVA?

The combined sessions are always too much of all and not enough of any.

I went to one last year that was held at the reception room of this hotel… there was a whole roomful of people, and afterwards I couldn’t even keep track of which detail goes with which college anymore. Their combined information session made all of the schools sound exactly the same when in reality, those schools are so distinctively different in so many ways.

But it was also somewhat informative in that I didn’t know anything before that point about which SATs to take, when to do what, etc, and the information session clarified some of that. So I guess I did get something out of it.

Yep. We also travel with Hopkins, Northwestern, Emory, and sometimes Rice or UNC.

In addition to the evening programs for you, we have counselor breakfasts in the morning (before school). It’s a great chance to catch up and hear about changes and developments in area schools.
