Come thou gentle CCers! I will return the favor. :D

Few responses before, but I will try again. :P

My friend told me it was time to make my first chance thread and I am rather nervous. Sorry if I forget something, but I don't think I will, seeing that I will type too much.

Status:Caucasian Male Theatre Kid
Residence: Northern Virgina, closer to West Virginia. Unlike the rest of "urban" NoVA, I will in a rural part bording WV, so yeah, not so DC-ish.

Stats
GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.949/5.2 W
Rank: 3/207(?)---I have the possibility of make it to 2nd, but it is doubtful.

Math: 590
Critical reading: 560
Writing: 690

Second Time(more prep): 1810

Math: 590

I am not good at time tests, but I am starting toget the hang of it. There is an on-going joke in math about if I can get a quiz or test done in a certain limit, everyone should. Sure, I ace the test, but it takes me a bit. Will retake this 1 or 2 more times.

SATs: None taken yet, but plan to take Math 2 and U.S. History

I have achieved my IB Diploma, barely, this year as a junior instead of a senior.
Math SL: 6

TOK HL: 4
Spanish SL: 3
Environmental Systems: 4 (1 one of 2 people)
IB History: 4
TOK 1 (Extra Subject): 5
Total: 26 points

However, I had expected around a 35 or possibly higher. The week the IB tests started, I found out my father had cancer. Along with that, I had to call the police on my best-friend who was trying to commit suicide and basically ruining many things for her, who was put on suicide watch and had to go to the hospital for evaluation. It was the worst timing, and I was not really in the best states of minds to take the tests.

While I got the IBs gone, out school offers 3 AP classes, all of which I am taking next year.

I know I have many reaches, but I needed some elses ideas. Sorry again that this is soo effing long, but thanks for your time.

CNU, JMU= 80%-85% each
W&M=60% (in-state)
UVA=60%
Brown=25%
Stanford=30-35%
Denison=65%
Oberlin=60% regular, unknown for theatre
Dartmouth=see Brown
Emory=35-40%

U of C- UCONN? if so: 65%, OOS
U Cumberlands - 90%
U Cincinnati - 70%, OOS

Good luck to you!

Note: I have been told that my percentages are a bit conservative. Submit one Ivy App anyway, I am and my app is not as good as yours. Sometimes they find something that is intriguing about your essay, EC’s, etc.

Chance Me Back!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/746446-chance-me-colleges-i-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Stanford: high reach
Dartmouth: high reach
Brown: reach
Emory: low reach
William & Mary: match/low reach
Oberlin: match

you have a lot going on in your life… obviously you’ve worked very hard to juggle it all and that is something to be proud of. however, i think you should put more focus on one or two things instead of so much. if you can show a passion for one activity/cause in depth i think your reaches can become your matches :)

Soxhawk: I think many of yours are about spot on, sans the Stanford one, which should a bit lower. :slight_smile: Oh, and expect a chance back rather soon. :)

nycgirl: Believe me, I will emphasize the right things. I am not including ever little thing, and besides, this is about everything I have done, so there is no more fluff or anything. I will write either about the Gay-straight alliance or, more likely, theatre. :D

How would increasing my SATs to around 2200-2250 effect my chances?

Stanford - 25% and below
Dartmouth - "
Brown - "
U of C - ?
Emory - 50%
UVA - 65%
William and Mary - 60%
Oberlin - 65%
Denison - ?
JMU - 75%
CNU - ?

Raising your SAT would bring you over the edge for many of those schools. Congratulations on your impressive achievements!

Chance me?

Get that SAT up son! Haha but assuming it stays id say Stanford Darthmouth and Brown are reaches, but not high reaches. I mean im sure youll get into one of them. As for the rest, i think youll get in (Emory is about 50/50)

Chance me back?

Good stuff. Your sats are probably fine at this point, just have really good sat II scores.

Stanford - reach
Dartmouth - lower reach
Brown - reach
U of C Uchicago I’m assuming - Reach but its all about the essays at this point. With Uchicago, its like if you’re in their range (which you are), they determine admissions based on essays.
Emory - Match to high match.
UVA - Match
William and Mary - Match
I would be very suprised if you don’t get into either UVA or W&M.
Oberlin - Match (But a lot on the essays)
Denison - low low match
JMU - in
CNU - in

Chance back>?! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/748339-chances-top-schools-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Wow you seem very busy. Your sats are very low for your rank and gpa to be so high. You seem to have a real passion for theater. I would play that up in your essays. I know you don’t want to hear it, because testing does not seem to be your thing, but GET YOUR SATS UP! This will open so many more doors for you admissions-wise. If you bring up your test scores and write killer essays, I believe you have at least a shot at the very top schools. You would be an excellent candidate for any university. Best of luck.

Stanford - High Reach
Dartmouth - Reach
Brown - Reach
Chicago - Low Reach to Reach (Usually largely depends on your essays, although with an admissions office change coming this year, you never know.)
Emory - Match
UVA - Match

Hey you forgot to chance me back…I wouldnt make a big deal about it, but its even in the thread title that youll chance back, and youve posted on here bumping your thread since i chanced you

Dang, good gpa & your ec’s are pretty impressive. theatre kids holla! lol
Stanford: high reach (as for everybody i think :d)
Dartmouth: mid to low reach
Brown: same as dmouth
U of C: match
Emory: match
UVA: low reach
William and Mary: probably match
Oberlin: i haven’t heard of their theatre program. but match/in
the rest, I don’t really know much about. Good luck with SAT’s!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/740690-i-need-help-chance-me-please-will-chance-back-no-lie.html</a>
please chance back. thanks

The same that everyone has been saying… Stanford/Dartmouth are highish reaches, Brown also a reach but not as high, then Emory is a low reach. I’d say the rest shouldn’t be a problem with your GPA.

I’d say the Ivies are high reaches, the rest are standard reaches, and you’re in at W&M as well as Oberlin. Good luck!
