Commended PSAT Score for Class of 2017?

I didn’t do too well on the PSAT but I’m hoping I can still make commended. Do you think a 1320/1520 with a SI of 198 (out of 228) will be enough for commended? My english + writing and math are both 660.

I am also in the 97th percentile for the nationally representative percentile

What state are you from? It goes state by state.

I’m from Maryland but commended doesn’t go state by state that’s only semifinalist. Commended is just one number for the whole nation.

I am also wondering this, I got a 1390 (203) and I’m in Texas so my no chance of NMF, but is this a good enough score for the commended?

thanks a lot

Hey. I’m from Pennsylvania and got a 1320 as well. Does anyone know if that score is good enough to at least get commended???

I think the commended score is historically around 96th percentile so you guys are all in @js1029 @justanormaldude @cgonzalez108

You said, “historically around 96th percentile,” but based on what, Nationally Representative Sample Percentile or User Percentile?

My guess is anywhere from 195-200.

Thanks @Studious99… If I were to get commended, does it look good at all? I know it’s not as great as being a National Merit winner, but will it help at all to get commended?

@TiggerDad I think it is based on your selection index percentile. You should be able to ask your GC to find out what SI %ile you got.

@cgonzalez108 yeah, you can list it on college apps and stuff. No money though.

Commended is not state dependent and is roughly 96.5th percentile.

My friend got a 192 si out of 228. Is that good enough for commended?

1390 and 206SI I hope i made it

Is 1430 in AZ enough or a 212 this year to be commended? Any help is appreciated…thank u

@cgonzalez108 what’s your SI?
@nillupa what state is your friend in?
@jruesmith7 what state are you in?

We’re just collecting data on another thread if you want to follow with lots of discussions about NMSF’s.
