Commended Scholar

I got 200 on this year's PSAT, is there any hope for me to get the Commended Award ??? (i think last year the range on last year was 200 to 218 in New York).

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the cutoff for Commended is most likely going to be either 202-203 this year .... I dont think their is any hope for a 200 cutoof, considering it has not be that low in years.

But my guidence counselour clearly said that last year's cutoff in New York was 200.

Also, my PSAT report said that my percentile is 95%, and since the top 5 percent students on the PSAT got rewarded, i think i have a pretty good chance in it

it's 96%

and commended is nationwide.

Commended is nationwide and as others on this thread have already said, the cutoff last year was most definitely 202 and it's only going to stay the same or rise this year. Perhaps you got National Merit and Commended mixed up? National Merit is based on the state and you have to be in the top 1%ile for it. Commended is top 4%ile nationwide or something, I believe.

I recall it being either 202 or 203.
