The 200-500 word limit- is it strictly enforced??.my essay has about 530 words .

My suggestion would be to trim it to 499. They put in a limit for a reason (how many essays can they read)…you can probably cut a couple of sentences and some "verys’ and your essay will still be good.

I mean the limit is 200-500 and you are over it…don’t tempt fate.

30 words over isn’t a problem. If everyone is important than keep it the way it is. But I would guess that you could trim it a like and it may actually be better

There are 2 essays, the common app and the Yale Supp.

Last year I did not see a limit for the common app (though 500 is suggested) and I think I wrote 800-900.
For the Supp I think I did about 600.

I got in.
30 words is nothing.

As long as what you write is GOOD and RELEVANT they will read it.

This year the limit is a hard 500.

Ahh. Then ignore what I said.
