Hi so I'm applying to Harvey Mudd and one of their supplements is a 500 word essay with three choices, one of them being: "3. What is one thing we won't know about you after reading your application that you haven't already reported in the Common Application Additional Information section?"

For the CommonApp, I didn't fill out the Additional Information, but should/could I still select that option to write an essay on?

If you have more to tell that would be helpful to you in admissions generally, then certainly you should use the additional info section to convey that information not only to HM but to all your schools. Most people do not write in essay format in the additional info section, although some do. Many times factual info is presented in a sentence or short paragraph format, possibly with brief headings. You might include descriptions of activities or awards that don’t fit in other sections or require further explanation, or describe how your interest in something developed over time.

Consider HM’s supp essay as an opportunity to tell something a little deeper about yourself that doesn’t fit in other categories of the app.
