common app and short answer help.

So for the common app I had originally planned to answer this prompt:
"A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you."

Before writing my essay I only briefly looked at the question, so instead of writing about "an experience that illustrates..." I wrote about different experiences. Since I include more than one experience, should I make this essay answer the "topic of your choice" instead? I don't want to jeopardize my admission by including more than one experience to answer the question, but then again I am not even sure if this is as big of a deal as I am making it out to be.

Another question... one of my applications requires me to answer questions like my favorite books, historical events I wish I could have experiences, what makes me happy, what I am most proud of ect. and I was just wondering what are they looking for? I only have 30 words to answer each question, so am I supposed to make my answers sound nice and creative, without much substance, or choppy but get the point across? Thirty words isn't much at all so I don't know how they could expect too much.
