Should there be a space before your first paragraph so that the text is separated from the bolded question stating the personal essay? I forgot to put a space and submitted my application, and realized my first paragraph is directly underneath the bolded question. Or does it not matter?
No worries at all!
For future reference, the ‘preview’ function allows you to view your application as the admissions officers will view it… and then go back into the application ti edit and adjust it accordingly.
For future apps, should i put a space before my first paragraph so that it’s separated from the bold prompt text? or unnecessary?
One important clarification: are you pasting the prompt into the space where your essay should be? In other words, are you including the prompt to alert the reader to the one you’re using?
Or are you just noting that the text of your essay appears directly below the bolded question that’s already on the application?
I’m pretty sure the Common App asks you to check off which prompt you’re using, so including it will be an unnecessary waste of words.
I didn’t paste the prompt in my text. I’m noting that the text of my essay appears directly below the bolded question that’s already on the application and wondering if this is fine!
Yes, this is fine. On the CommonApp, there’s a place for you to click a bubble next to the prompt you chose. When you click the bubble, the box containing the prompt turns a shade darker. Next, paste the text of your essay into the text box beneath the prompts. There’s a word counter below the text box that will tell you how many words are in your essay. As long as you have 650 or less, it will allow you to submit.
Hope this helps!
