Common app essay idea

So, common app essay. Nothing in my life is controversial or inspiring or really that interesting, so I ended up writing about a true passion of mine: fashion, and how it ties in with my personality. My english teacher read it and said it's unique (and not shallow sounding because that was a main issue i had) but I feel like admission people will read it and be like "why would she choose fashion?" If anyone could/would give me advice on choosing this topic, or even be willing to read it, I would be truly grateful. Thanks :)

Number 1: Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
