I just noticed on my common app that my essay is missing the final paragraph. I don’t know how I missed this when reviewing my application, and I’m horrified. Ive already sent the essay to 8 schools. The essay makes sense without it, but I really liked what I wrote. I already got into one school so I don’t think its going to make or break my application but I want my other colleges to see it. Should I email each individual one? Advice would be much appreciated I’m sort of freaking out.
This is actually a known issue. Our d’s college guidance office sent a note around about it. Contact the schools, explain the situation, and ask if you can send them an unedited copy of your CA essay.
For those who still haven’t submitted, I offer the following workaround (since the issue affects ALL text fields, not just the CA essay, but the individual schools’ essay sections as well, for those schools with writing supplements):
Add an extra two paragraph returns to your essay or short answer, and copy and paste them into the appropriate text field in the CA. The last paragraph return will be cut off, which won’t matter… the rest of your essay will be intact.
