I have a question about the essay prompt, "Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you?" I wrote about snowboarding as my overall focus. My intro paragraph describes being on top of a mountain and how I am content there. Then in my body paragraphs I go on to talk about how snowboarding has given me opportunities that otherwise I wouldn't have had such as traveling the counter. I then talk about life lessons snowboarding has taught me that can directly help me in college. Finally I talk about the memories snowboarding has given me. Obviously in my essay I go very into depth on all that I just mentioned. My question is, does my body information in which I talk about what snowboarding has done for me go too much off topic in regards to the prompt asking me where I am content, or does all that information I mentioned fit in with the why part of the prompt? Any opinion helps, thanks!

I think it generally sounds fine. You might want to have someone read it from an editing perspective to see if the flow is okay. And make sure you are revealing something about yourself – something about your personality, your feelings, how you respond to challenges, that sort of thing.

The prompts are used more as starting points for your essay. As long as you clearly address it, you are free to delve into whatever you want.
