Common App Essay question?

So I've been told by a professional college workshop that it's good to talk about a significant accomplishment or interest in your common app essay...
I have an essay about my love for biology and how the various experiences I've had shaped my interest.
I also have another essay about the meaning behind my name and how it related to my relationship with one of my family members who was sick (I talked about how it changed my perspective and I mention in my last paragraph how it led me to take up an internship and volunteer work). It's a bit cliche I guess, but the thing with my name makes it unique.
Based on your experiences, which essay would you say is better?

Both COULD be successful topics. You have to look at them both and decide which portrays you better. Variations of both topics you mentioned have been used successfully by people I know.

I didn’t write about a “significant accomplishment.”

I wrote about playing guitar for a group of people at a debate competition.

Thanks for the insight–would you mind taking a look at my essays?

Sure, PM me. Although I won’t be able to offer extensive critiques. I’ll let you know which one I prefer, however.
