Common App essay topic

<p>I am starting to get into writing my essay for my Common App but I am unsure if my topic is really a good thing to write about.</p>

<p>The new Common App topics aren't really appealing and hardly fit into anything in my life but I decided to go with the first topic.</p>

<p>It reads: Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.</p>

<p>I am thinking of writing about how my family is kind of bi-cultural. My mom is from the UK and my dad is American. Not sure how strong that is but if I can think of enough things that my mom has brought into our family that have shaped me to be who I am today, I can make this work. </p>

<p>More important than this question: you need a new user name. Create a new email address and re-register if you have to–gmail, yahoo, whatever–but you should never use your actual name as a user name in an internet message board.</p>

<p>Sounds as if it could be very clever:</p>

<p>queue vs. line
lorry vs. truck
lift vs. elevator</p>

<p>etc.</p>
