Of the 5 universities i'm applying to, i am eligible for need-based financial aid in 4 (i'm international btw). What confuses me though, is every time i check 'yes' for financial aid on the common app, under 'future plans' this message pops up that says i need to write my social security number. Does this mean that I need to get a social security number in order to apply for financial aid to us universities?
