Common App for Art Schools

I was wondering if there was a website similar to Common App, but more Art school oriented. When I signed on, I saw that UNCSA, NKU, Mason Gross, nor Uarts were on there to use. Any help?

No, you have to fill them out individually.

Rutgers University has its own application, and I suspect that this is true of many other large state university systems (In NJ, Montclair State is also separate from the Common App). UArts and Cornish are not on the Common App; I can’t remember whether Roosevelt/CCPA and Point Park are. Emerson, Tisch/NYU, BU, Fordham, Columbia College Chicago, and most other private colleges and universities are, however, with supplements required in most cases. Each school has different policies regarding scheduling of auditions, etc., so it is highly advisable to study every school carefully to be sure you understand their discrete policies and requirements. I put together a very time-consuming guide for all the colleges my son was considering, just so that he, his adviser, and I could consult it easily. There is a website that lists the colleges that participate in the National Unified Auditions, but I’m not sure when it will be updated for next winter. Some prominent theater programs don’t officially participate in the Unifieds, but they schedule their regional auditions to coincide (or, in the case of NYC schools, and - I would imagine - LA and Chicago ones, they will conduct auditions on-campus during the weekend of Unified auditions).

I recommend that you search the common ap for the schools you’re interested in to see if they’re there, but your student should be prepared to write a lot of essays even for those school on the common ap, since most of them require supplements. Beware of SUNY Purchase and a few others who appear on the common ap-- but that’s the wrong application for theater majors.

I’m not sure how much importance is placed on the essays for auditioned performance majors.

Writing is one of my daughter’s strengths and I’m pretty sure that her essays were one of the reasons for her admission to some of her BA schools. But the school she chose, Fordham, had a very brief common ap supplement with no additional essays. (She did send them a sample for admission to the playwriting program, but that’s not required for other majors.)
