Hey everyone. So I had a question/concern. I've already done my common app essay. I did the prompt relating to diversity (I think #5). Anyway, in it, I talked about my childhood and the environment I grew up in. Well...then I read the Short Response #1 Supplement and I went "crap"...it's basically the same prompt I already wrote on. So I'm not really sure what to do. I would rewrite my Common App essay, but I REALLY like it (but it's too long to just swap out for the Tufts prompt and then write a new Common App one). What should I do? It's really frustrating :/

(and ignore my name…I hate Harvard now haha. I was young when I made this. Can’t change it though) =P

sameeee!! my common app essay mentioned about diversity…

k, glad I’m not the only one! haha

Can you focus on something else for your supplement? I think you will want ALL of your schools (not just Tufts) to know about your diverse background, but maybe there’s something different you can say for Tufts’ supplement. The supplement encourages you to think outside the box, so take a risk and go for it!

They’ll still be hearing about your diverse background from the commonapp…

i’m trying. it’s just that i literally hit on every option the Tufts supplement gives (for that prompt) in my common app essay. and in terms of the other colleges thing, i was just thinking about opening a 2nd version of common app for tufts. then i could use my diversity essay for the other schools…this still doesn’t solve my length issue though :/

Or (just a thought), how about taking a small part of your common app essay and expand it–really bring it to life–for the Tufts supplement. That could really “let your life speak.”

hmm…i’ll try that thanks!
