I’m sorry if this is a stupid question but I can’t find the prompts for the common app transfer student essay anywhere on my Common App. I found the prompts online (even on the official common app website) but I don’t see them anywhere on my common app. Another website said that there were no prompts for transfer students, and I was wondering if anyone knew if there were any Common App prompts for transfer students in addition to the separate prompts for each private school we apply to
Hi! In the Common App Transfer, each school’s materials are under Program Materials. Usually the essays are on the Questions or Documents tabs, and some schools do offer a list of prompts like in freshman admission for the personal statement, while others use the general “why are you transferring” prompt. There are also often supplemental writing questions under Questions.
It depends on the school. Some just require a statement on why you’re transferring/why that specific school and others require the personal statement as well and sometimes even a 3rd essay. Very school specific.
