Common app Upenn professor question?

On the common app, there is a question that asks what penn professor would you like to work with? Do they mean specify the name of the professor(do they expect us to know this) or just mention a professor that lectures a certain course?

I know this question might sound stupid but I have to ask just in case.

specific professor, for sure.

two (or more) professors can teach sections of the same course in wildly different ways.

I just picked a marketing business professor and said I wanted to hear his views on global marketing since I was doing a project on it. Just choose a professor that teaches something that interests you.

And I'm guessing the professors' names are on the website?

Yeah, if you go to the department's website they should have a list of professors. Just do a google search "penn marketing department"

http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/curriculum/concentrations/accounting.cfm

So you're saying according to the link above, if I plan on majoring in accounting, I would talk about how I would like to work with Professor Victor Defeo.

that is correct.

http://accounting.wharton.upenn.edu/faculty.htm

This is the link to the accounting department faculty. Victor Defeo is the accounting concentration advisor and I'm not sure if he actually teaches a class. Definitely check out the link and click on a few of the professors. Many of the professors have published papers that you can read for free. Show the adcom that you did some research on your professor and give them specifics on why you would want to learn from them.
