Do colleges view an applicant that completes their college application rather than the common application as more interested in their college? Are there advantages to completing one or the other aside from the obvious that the common app can be used more than once? The current school my son is looking at accepts the common app and does not need any supplemental app completed.

definatly go with the college app cuz it shows that you have a 'sincere' interest in the school.

No difference. In order to participate in the common app, schools have to sign a statement each year that they will treat them equally.

k srry.....ignore my post.

Thanks to you both for being kind enough to answer.

Well I applied to Cornell and they only had the common application. i would think this is the most case with alot of schools... I asked for an application and they sent me only the common application with their extra forms...

Right. Colleges also do have to sign a form saying that they will not be biased towards their own app. Too bad signing a contract doesn't change an internal bias. (Here's a kid that checked of our name on an app just because he wanted a safety, and here's a kid that went to the extent of filling out our specific app.)
Come on.

The commonapp has to start requiring colleges to use their app exclusively with a supplement (like, I think, Cornell)
