Okay well in the very beginning it asks if I want to receive Financial Aid. Well once I was done with the application and I clicked the Print Preview, it didn't have a check on merid aid, scholarships, etc.. I'm confused, it never asked me to click yes for merit aid or scholarships...

It varies by college. If the “Future Plans” section for that particular college didn’t ask for it, then you don’t have anything to worry about. On the other hand, another college’s “Future Plans” section might include the bit about the merit scholarships, etc.

So how would you be qualify for merit aid and scholarships?

^ You should verify that by going directly to the college’s website. I’m sure they’d have that information there :)

Yes, some colleges want to make it clear that financial aid does not affect admissions, so they don’t have the Comm App report it to them. Almost all require fafsa (where you list colleges you where you have applied) and some require the CSS Profile (which goes directly to them). Watch each college’s financial aid deadlines very carefully.

Most of the colleges that I am familiar with have automatic consideration of merit aid. Some may have separate applications, particularly for the largest scholarships. Some say they will only consider students for merit aid if they apply before a certain date (which is before the regular application deadline).

Read the application and financial aid websites very carefully for each college.
