I have a doubt regarding the common app and I am not able to find this information on the web site. Do the teacher evaluation forms have to have an original teacher signature or is a copy OK?

A copy is perfectly fine. thats the beauty of the common app.

oh, but the teacher's usually sign the envelope, too, so thats an original, even if inside is a copy...

lights_out, Thanks for your reply. I did not know that the evaluations had to be placed in envelopes and that the teachers had to sign the back of the envelopes. I will ask my DD to place copies of the teacher evaluation in envelopes and have the teacher sign the back of the envelopes.

The teachers don't have to sign the back of the envelope. Some do if they're at all concerned about tampering. But many don't - the ones at my d's school do not. (But the students do give the teachers addressed, stamped envelopes to all the schools.)

Yes, well if they mail it out themelves, not a problem. But most colleges seem to request that the envelopes are signed, so my teachers went ahead and signed them, since they were mailing them to me first.

Oh, and a note, they usuallly sign the flap, not the back, after it's sealed. But don't worry about it too much, because most teachers know what they are doing with reccommendations.
