Communication/PR Major

Hi, I'm currently in the process of deciding which school to apply to. I'm looking for a college with a good communication/public relations/marketing major. I would like to be in a somewhat urban environment, near places where I can find good internships (preferably within the music industry). For the purpose of my professional future, and my personal enjoyment, I'd would like to live in a place with a good music scene.

My top two schools, both of which I have visited and love, are UT Austin and Emerson College. I really need to find more places to apply to though. I'm definitely applying to University of Florida and Florida State as safety, but REALLY want to get out of state.

If anyone has any suggestions of schools with good communications programs that are in vibrant urban environments, I'd greatly appreciate it!

You might take a closer look at schools that don’t seem to be positioned to provide easy access to the type of internships you’re looking for. I’ve come across several schools that have well established “semesters in…” programs. I’ve seen some for fashion in New York and other with music in LA or Nashville. Of course, I don’t remember the name of the schools now but it is something to be aware of.

Drexel has its own record label, as well as a coop program that gives you paid job placements before graduation.

Temple has a strong communications program with loads of alumni working in the mid-Atlantic area.

Drexel is private; Temple is state-related (public). Philadelphia has much music of all kinds.

Syracuse yes
