Communications Major at CP

Although I didn't get in to CP this year, I'm thinking about the possibility of transferring there from UMBC. UMBC has a mass communications program, with advertising, public relations, and a wide vareity of classes that I'd love to take.

However...from what I've heard, I feel like the campus social scene and general student body are not completely right for me (and feel like I'm more of a CP person)

I know that College Park has a communications program, but it seems to lie only in the realms of journalism, public speaking/rhetoric, things like that.

Does anyone know if it's possible to take classes involving media studies and mass communication in maryland and major in something like advertising/mass comm?

Bump. I’m transferring, too ( from a maryland cc). Also, how does UMCP compare with other schools like Towson or Loyola regarding comm majors?

Sent from my VM670 using CC

I don’t know how it compares to other schools for comm, but it is definitely the best public school in the state, no question.

Here is info on the major: [Department of Communication - University of Maryland](http://www.comm.umd.edu/undergradprogram.html)
