Communications with Admissions

Hi, I have a question about the frequency with which it is appropriate (or not annoying) to email admissions offices.

Last week I emailed colleges with some supplemental materials (published work, grades from college courses) and also had an additional recommender send off a letter for me (which was emailed in a separate email from him).

Yesterday I won a major debating competition, and my coach offered to write me a letter of recommendation. If I email colleges about this, and send off an additional letter will this seem like overkill? I just don't want to come across as too "hovery" or anxious.

Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks.

It is too much to add another letter if you already have the regular letters and sent another recommendation as well. Here is what I would do – wait a few weeks (mid-February), then send another email packing up anything that has come up, like your debate win. They are still mulling over/finalizing then, they can still take it into account.

Thanks intparent! I’m only worried that if they’ve already made a decision, they might not consider my most recent accomplishments.
Also a small thing: some of the schools let me upload the additional rec on commonapp. For the colleges that I uploaded my FIRST rec onto, do you think it’s worth emailing the second?
