I'm debating between Middlebury and a couple other LACs, and I would say Middlebury is for sure my favorite except that when I visiting I didn't get a sense that there was a strong community atmosphere. Maybe that was just because I staying with someone who wasn't really pat of the community, but I don't really know. I'm coming from a small private highschool with a very tight knit community, and I'd really love for my college to have that too. Could any current students comment on how strong and/or close they feel the sense of community is? do you generally feel like you have a really good support system? that there are other people looking out for you?

I have no idea about how current students feel, but… when we were there we went to a lacrosse game and it seemed there was HUGE community support. Not just students, but faculty, parents and the local community. S went to the library on Thursday night and said it was really nice to see a lot of groups of kids going in to study together, in the study rooms together, etc. And what I heard from some kids was there isn’t a real division in the community between athletes and the artistic etc etc, which is kinda what he felt at some other LAC’s. However, I will leave it to “real” middkids to respond… alumni or otherwise.
