Community College Rec Letter

For the first two years of my undergraduate work I attended a community college. I took advantage of every opportunity, rose to a handful of leadership positions, reinstated the old weekly newspaper, etc.

In the process I won a couple of state and national academic awards and scholarships. Finally, near the end of my time at the CC, I transferred into a top 5 school. I'll be applying to law school in about a year's time and, I'm curious, would it hurt to have one of my rec letters come from the president of that community college? She's already offered and, as such, I'd like to think it could be quite good.

It's odd, having your undergraduate career bisected like that. But, it seems to make sense not to just dismiss those two years. If nothing else, that letter could help speak to the consistency of my performance as an undergrad. Thoughts?

I see no problem with that. Given that you are currently at a top 5 school, I assume you did some very impressive things during the first half of your undergraduate career- nicely done.

Thanks! I’m still unclear on how the rec letter process works for law school - how many per school, etc. But my instinct tells me that this would be a good one to have in my roster of available letters.

I would definitely use it! The fact that you got support (in the form of a letter) from the President of the school says so much.
