Community college story

I am an international student. For those of you who got admitted to top universities such as Yale, Stanford, Brown, UC Berkeley, etc, what was your profile? Did you have scholarship or financial aid? Thanks.

Check the threads for those schools to find out the profiles. There are several “chance me” threads that detail a person’s stats for each of those schools.

Also check the “FA and scholarships” section on this forum for more into about financial aid and scholarships.

In general transfer students have less of a chance of FA than freshman admits to colleges. But some schools make sure that every student they accept can attend. Those schools are more rare and you need top grades, and may include Grinnell, Vassar, Haverford, and some of the Ivies, but see exceptions below. for CC transfer into a top school, that’s hard, but not impossible. Cornell accepts transfers from CCs, but I’m not sure about FA for Cornell international transfer students. If you’re in California, there’s a system for those transfers and you should check out the threads on this forum for California CCs (CCC).

Schools that take CC transfers in such as Penn and Columbia GS, don’t necessarily offer great FA, but it may be possible. Both Penn and Columbia have colleges devoted to nontrad students.
