Community College Transfer question.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums as you can obviously tell. I've been looking for a college discussion board to clear up some of the confusion behind college. I'm not sure if this is the right section but it feels pretty on point.

My question is in regards to a Rutgers transfer. I'm currently a high school senior and I would like to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering. I live in New Jersey, I plan on attending Bergen Community College for my first two years of college to fill out my general education requirements and then plan on transferring to Rutgers - New Brunswick.

I'm very overwhelmed by college, just trying to figure everything out is a headache and it doesn't help that my guidance counselor has been MIA for the entire year due to the fact that she had a baby. I've been on my own trying to piece information together and I'd appreciate some input.

My high school transcripts aren't that dandy, my freshman and sophomore years of high school were complete flops. Those two years of high school were utter hell due to some personal problems and other family related complications. My Jr. year of high school was pretty decent finishing with only one C and all A's and B's. My senior year now I have all A's and another C which is pretty close to a B.

I plan on working diligently in college as I am my senior year aiming for nothing less than an A+. With my first two years of high school in shambles, and my Jr and Senior year of high school pretty good if I finish my first two years of college with A's and B's do I have a pretty good chance at transferring to Rutgers?

My other question is if I complete my general education in Bergen will I have any trouble transferring my credits over to Rutgers? Considering Rutgers is a state school people tell me that I won't have any trouble having my credits transfer.

In addition could anyone recommend schools other than Rutgers I could possibly attend for a Computer Engineering degree? The school would need to be one that accept community college credits, if anyone has any ideas off the top of their head I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

PS. I apologize if I did end up posting this in the wrong section.

Not sure if computer engineering is one you can transfer into. It might depend on the program. You should meet with a transfer advisor at the Comm College, they should be able to direct you. Make sure you get one that you believe knows what they are talking about. Make sure they understand what program you want to get in to and whether that program takes transfers. Ask questions. Take a parent if you have one who is interested and might remember to ask the questions that you forget, or just for support so you make sure you get your answers. People can leave advisor meetings wondering if they got the answers or not!
