If I take a class at my local community college just to make my summer productive, will I receive credit for it? Thanks!

I am fairly certain that Fordham only accepts classes taken at 4 year colleges. Classes from community colleges and online classes are, as far as I know, not accepted for credit. But to be certain, I would call the school and make sure that policy has not changed.
Look at the post - what to do in the summer a few down from here.

I’m transferring from a community college to fordham. They have awarded me credit for all those classes. It would be kind bummy if they didn’t huh? Well anyways u should be fine as long as they give u credit for it at ur school fordham should award u the credit also.

The rules may be different for students transferring from a community college as compared to a student already enrolled at Fordham. Again, it always pays to call Fordham to confirm what will or will not be accepted before signing up for a summer course. Last summer my S was told by his dean that he would not get credit for any course taken at a community college or online.

Exerpt from a freshman advising brochure: “College-level course while at FCRH: If you plan to take or have taken a college-level course while a student at Fordham College at Rose Hill, note that the course must be taken at an accredited four year university and you must have received a grade of “C” or higher.”

I’m transferring from a community college, so they definitely accept CC credits. As for the specific course, you should find that out for certain.

Again, it is likely that there is a difference between community college credits that are accepted when a person transfers from a two year college to Fordham and credits that will be accepted for credit once a student is enrolled at Fordham. In general, it is wise for any Fordham student to get a summer class (or any class) taken outside of Fordham pre-approved by his or her dean to avoid potential problems. Better safe than sorry.
